Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor says that the band’s next project is not only starting to look like a concept album, but that it may be a double album as well. A concept double album?
Stone Sour looks to join the ranks of bands like
Smashing Pumpkins and Coheed and Cambria as they gear up to release a two-disc concept album. In a recent interview Corey Taylor told Artisan News about Stone Sour’s upcoming record:
“The thing I can say is that it’s like little bits and pieces of the first three albums, but it’s very dark. I’ve got a story
it’s almost a concept album that I’m writing right now — and it might turn into a double album. There’s a lot of really good material that we’re all kinda coming up with and I’m really excited to get in to the studio and see what happens.”

Korn had to put the breaks on the release of their dubstep EP a few months ago, and it may have been one of the best decisions they’ve ever made. After the success of the single ‘Get Up’, there is a renewed sense of interest in the band that wasn’t quite there during the release of their last album ‘Korn III: Remember Who You Are’. The project, now known as ‘The Path to Totality’, was expanded into a full-length album which is scheduled for release November 15th.
The band has also contributed the theme song, which at this point has no title, to the next installment in the popular video game franchise — Silent Hill.

Somewhat shockingly, R.E.M. has just revealed that they are breaking up after over 30 years of making music together.
The following statement was posted on the band’s website yesterday:
“To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening. R.E.M.”

Cornell recently spoke with ARTISTdirect about the new Soundgarden material and how it will compare to Cornell’s solo efforts: “Well, no matter what, Soundgarden is always going to be heavier. However, I also think musically the new Soundgarden stuff is different than anything we’ve ever done.”
He continued, “Having said that, I think that’s a theme we’ve always had. I think every time we’ve made a record it wasn’t really that easy to compare it to the previous one — other than that we’re the same band. I think may be some moments that are sort of sonically quieter and more stripped-down. On the whole, it’s a rock record. That’s what we do.”
Soundgarden’s as-yet-untitled upcoming album is expected to drop in the spring of 2012.

It's been a long time coming for fans, but Bob Seger is making some of his classic material available digitally via iTunes for the first time. Available now are Seger's two multiplatinum concert albums — "Live Bullet" (1976) and "Nine Tonight" (1981) — released for download at iTunes and Amazon. Also making its iTunes debut is "Early Seger Vol. 1," a collection of spruced-up tracks and previously unreleased fare from the early 1970s.
To celebrate Seger's introduction to iTunes, a digital 'Bonus EP' will be available for "Live Bullet" and "Nine Tonight" download for one week only exclusively through iTunes. The disc includes tunes such as "Mainstreet" and live versions of "Hollywood Nights" and "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man." images-6
Five Finger Death Punch took an unexpected turn with the video for their latest single 'Under an Over It' — while parts of it look more like a mid-90s rap video, guitarist Zoltan Bathory claims the inspiration was purely "c**k rock".
"We wanted to hit a pretty sarcastic tone with it, so it looks like a typical big c**k rock video, but in a tongue in cheek way. We put all the 'big-time video' clichés in it except for the booty shake or maybe we even got that, I don't remember. We do have the party scenes, cars, airplanes, mansions, pools and girls—of course you can't have a raaawwwk video without your token pool scene."

A man has been charged after breaking into singer Celine Dion's house and running a bath, Montreal police said.
The 36-year-old also raided the star's fridge before an alarm alerted police, who arrested him on the premises.
Police spokesman Franco Di Genova said Dion and her husband were not at home at the time of the break-in.
He said the man had jumped a fence to get on the property and used a garage door opener he found in an unlocked vehicle to gain access to the house.
"He opened the water faucets, was pouring a nice warmish bath," Di Genova said.
"He even managed to eat some pastry that was in the fridge."
The officers came face-to-face with the intruder, who told them he was a family friend.
Officers checked with a security guard, who confirmed that no visitors were expected in the house.
Snack wrappers were then discovered in the kitchen, as well as cigarette butts and discarded notes in an office.
The intruder has been named as Daniel Bedard, a resident of Laval, the suburb where Dion's house is located.

An interesting update on the progress of the new Aerosmith album has surfaced courtesy of producer Jack Douglas. The rock legends entered guitarist Joe Perry's The Boneyard studio in suburban Boston and their main studio, Pandora's Box, early this summer with long-time producer Douglas to begin recording their 14th studio album and first set of original material since 2001's "Just Push Play" and first studio album since 2004's blues covers CD, "Honkin' On Bobo."
Douglas has shared an update on the new project. "The new album should be out around May 2012," reports Jack. "I know that's a long wait, but after the South American tour and Japan in October, November and December, we will just get back to work on it in mid-January. For those who are asking, this album will be raw, nasty, tough rock with a good deal of the old Aerosmith 'tongue in cheek.'"

Back in 1782, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote a piece that’s been left out of the spotlight ever since. The title of the piece is “Leck Mich Im Arsch” or literally translated to English as “Lick me in the arse.” Understandably this piece has figuratively been swept under the rug. So who better to give this piece it’s due respect than the wildly successful, much misunderstood, and divisive Southwest Detroit rappers Insane Clown Posse?
With fellow Southwest Detroit-born Jack White at the production helm and musical backing by Nashville’s very own Jeff the Brotherhood, this 2011 version of “Leck Mich Im Arsch” marries Mozart’s melody (and lyrics sung in operatic German) with ICP’s poignant lyrical addition in English and Jeff the B’s monster-riffs, letting the whole thing tie together in the most beautiful of ways.
The 7″ single and iTunes digital download of “Leck Mich Im Arsch” will be available for sale on September 13th. One-hundred Tri-color versions of the single will be available from the Third Man Rolling Record Store at the MI Fest in Brooklyn, Michigan on September 17th and another 50 Tri-colors will be randomly inserted into mail orders dispatched by Third Man Records.

TMZ Entertainment News 9-22-2011

The big "X Factor" premiere last night fell way short of Simon Cowell's expectations -- earning just over half the ratings "American Idol" got during its premiere in January. Simon's new show averaged an 8.7 rating, while the tenth season premiere of "Idol" pulled in a 16.4 -- and in last night's head-to-head ... "Modern Family" and "Criminal Minds" won out. Simon called in to TMZ Live yesterday -- telling them, he desperately wanted to beat out his alma mater in the ratings department ... but based on last night's performance, that's gonna be an uphill battle. To be fair -- the first ever episode of "American Idol" only scored a 6.1 in 2002 ... and has since had years to build a loyal audience. Then again, singing competitions were new back then.

The producer of "Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father" has lashed out at Joe Pesci, claiming he's a has-been who is desperately seeking attention by trying to force himself into the movie. The flick -- which will star John Travolta -- is now the basis of a suit filed by Pesci, who claims he had an iron-clad, $3 million deal to play the role of Angelo Ruggiero, Gotti's close friend and enforcer. In fact, Pesci says the deal was so firm, he actually gained 30 pounds for the role, only to be 86'd from the film. As we previously reported, Pesci has sued Fiore Films, and now the movie company is fighting back in its answer to the lawsuit, saying, "It has been over 20 years since Mr. Pesci has been able to gather the attention he has by merely interjecting his role in this film."  Fiore claims it never had a deal with Joe ... there were discussions but no commitment. Fiore says sadly, "[Pesci] desperately wants to be part of this film project." The mob has ways of dealing with these disputes, right?

Call him Ron Artest, Metta World Peace, Mr. Peace -- or just ... First Guy Voted Off "Dancing With the Stars." The Los Angeles Lakers star lost with grace -- unlike his Cha cha -- and tipped his hat to "Jerry Maguire" on his way out the door Tuesday night. Ron Ron was joined by Nancy Grace in the bottom two. Yeah, we know ... they were both on TMZ Live. Coincidence.
