Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor says that the band’s next project is not only starting to look like a concept album, but that it may be a double album as well. A concept double album?
Stone Sour looks to join the ranks of bands like Smashing Pumpkins and Coheed and Cambria as they gear up to release a two-disc concept album. In a recent interview Corey Taylor told Artisan News about Stone Sour’s upcoming record:
“The thing I can say is that it’s like little bits and pieces of the first three albums, but it’s very dark. I’ve got a story…it’s almost a concept album that I’m writing right now — and it might turn into a double album. There’s a lot of really good material that we’re all kinda coming up with and I’m really excited to get in to the studio and see what happens.”
Korn had to put the breaks on the release of their dubstep EP a few months ago, and it may have been one of the best decisions they’ve ever made. After the success of the single ‘Get Up’, there is a renewed sense of interest in the band that wasn’t quite there during the release of their last album ‘Korn III: Remember Who You Are’. The project, now known as ‘The Path to Totality’, was expanded into a full-length album which is scheduled for release November 15th.
The band has also contributed the theme song, which at this point has no title, to the next installment in the popular video game franchise — Silent Hill.
Somewhat shockingly, R.E.M. has just revealed that they are breaking up after over 30 years of making music together.
The following statement was posted on the band’s website yesterday:
“To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening. R.E.M.”
