Last night on WMRC you heard The Boston Red Sox took on the Chicago White Sox in game 2 of the Series. The Red Sox rolling on a 4 game winning streak heading into last night send Daniel Bard to the Hill to face John Danks. Well the result was just super for the Sox as they get the 10-3 victory, their 5th win in a row. Daniel Bard went 7 innings pitched, gave up 2 earned runs. Ortiz belted his 4th homer of the year and Darnell Mcdonald had 4 RBI's. The Sox scored 6 runs on the top of the 6th last night.
The Red Sox take on the Chicago White Sox in game 3 of the series in Chicago tonight, Jon lester to the Hill for the Red Sox, Jake Peavy for the White Sox game time is 7pm, coverage starts at 6 pm right here on wmrc first class radio. 
Yankees last night won the game against the Tigers in the bottom of the 9th on a passed ball. Derek Jeter came around to score in the bottom of 9th after a skipped pitch. Mariano Rivera got the win for the Yanks. The Yankees play at 4:05pm today against the Detroit Tigers, Tigers Rookie Drew Smyly matches up against Freddy Garcia for the Yankees. 
The Bruins may be done for the season but the Celtics will get started up Sunday against the Atlanta Hawks right here on WMRC, 1490 am, Coverage starts at 6pm for Celtics playoff basketball as they battle the Hawks in game 1 in Atlanta. 
Thursday Night Milford High Baseball Branched out as J.J. Branch took the mound and took down Algonquin 10-6. 4 of the runs were earned. Jarrod and Chriss Casey as well as Matt Ferelli all contributed hits in the Milford victory. The Scarlet Hawks after Thursday are 6 and 1 on the season.
On Friday a different story Milford Gets shut out against Shrewsbury 3-0 but the Milford Softball team shut out Shrewsbury 8-0, Caroline Fairbanks ripped a 3 run homer in the Milford victory.
Other Baseball scores from around the Area, Franklin Panthers shut out division rivals Mansfield 8-0, In Tri-Valley Play Hopkinton took down Medway 6-2, Millis wiped out Ashland 9-6, Medfield beat up on Bellingham 14-1 and in Non-League Play Hopedale took down Worcester North 16-0.
Other Local Softball Scores, Mansfield shut out Franklin 3-0, Bellingham shut out Medfield 4-0, Ashland took down Millis 13-2, Hopkington over Medway 4-2.

Central Games have been Postponed due to weather
WMRC's game last night was the Girls of Hopkinton taking down Walpole 46-30, It was a defensive game up until the 4th quarter in which Lindsey Doucette went off dropping 12 4th quarter points, 17 throughout the game in The Hopkinton Girls South Division 2 victory. Hopkinton advances to play the winner of tonights Medfield-Hingham game.
Another local south division 2 girls game last night the Holliston Girls were eliminated by Notre Dame losing 54-43.
Today in Girls South Division 3 Coyle & Cassidy are hosting Medway in Girls South Division 3 tournament play. Tomorrow at 7pm in Girls South Division 1 play 14 and 6 Newton North is at 18 and 2 Franklin. In Girls Central Division 1 Play Holy Name hosts Milford Saturday at 6pm after Milford defeated Tantasqua on Tuesday to advance 55-48. In Girls Central Division 2 play, Auburn took out Nipmuc earlier this week with a 62-50 victory, Auburn advances to play St. Bernards. In Central Division 3 girls tournament play Hopedale will play Parker Charter on Saturday at 7pm, winner advaces to the semi finals at Clark University and right above Hopedale in the Bracket is Blackstone Valley Tech who advanced awaits the winner of Bromfield and Nashoba tech who play Friday after yesterdays and todays central play delays due to snow. 
In Central Division 1 Boys action Milford @ St. Johns moved to 7pm tomorrow, Friday due to snow and also tomorrow in Central Division 1 Marlboro takes on St. Peter Marian at Assumption College. The winners of both those games head to WPI. Nipmuc takes on Lunenburg in Lunenburg Saturday at 7pm in boys central division 2 play, after on Tuesday 14 seeded Nipmuc upset 3 seeded uxbridge in overtime 68-60. In Boys Central Division 3 Central play South Lancaster is at Hopedale, game is expected to be played although all other Central games scheduled for today have been postponed. Blackstone Valley Tech hosts North Brookfield Friday 7pm.

HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS TALK RETURNS THIS FEBRUARY

The Sports Buzz is on the road with the Patriots tailgate party at Hickey’s Liquors, go down and join the action as we prepare you for Super Bowl 46 in which the New England Patriots take on the New York Football Giants. Rob Gronkowski is listed as questionable for the Super Bowl but count on Gronk playing in the game of the year. Bill Belichick said there is no setbacks for the return of Gronkowski.
Peyton Manning was cleared by doctors to return to NFL action but there is no time table for his return. 
The Boston Celtics beat the New York Knicks 91-89 at the Garden with a last minute 3 pointer from Paul Pierce, The Celtics are now 12 and 10 on the season. The Celtics meet up with the Memphis Grizzlies right here on WMRC first class radio at Noon Super Bowl Sunday, Game can be heard right here on WMRC First Class Radio. 
In WMRC’s first class radio’s Friday Night High School Basketball game of the Week the Milford Scarlet Hawks took down the Leominster Blue Devils at home 54-36. Defense dominated up until the 4th quarter as it was 28-21 heading into the 4th quarter, but the Hawks would outscore the Blue Devils in the 4th Quarter 26-15, to get their 11th win of the year. Jan Fuentes was the player of the game dropping 14 points, 10 of which came into the 2nd half. Milford next plays against Worcester North this Sunday at 1pm, game will not be on WMRC due to Celtics basketball, but head down to Milford High School to get ready for Super Bowl by watching some great High School Basketball action.
Blackstone Valley Tech improved to 8 and 5 as they took down Bay Path in Colonial Athletic League action 65-58. 
In other Midwatch A action Algonquin took down Fitchburg 47-44, Tri Valley League Boys Basketball Medfield took down Holliston 57-56, Medway beat Dover-Sherborn 67-62, Norton was all over Millis 64-37 and Hopkinton wiped out Bellingham 61-36. The Hillers are now 5 and 5 on the season. 
In Girls action Blackstone Valley Tech wiped out Bay Path 37-14, Hopedale took care of Whitinsville Christian 48-31, The Hopedale lady Blue Raiders are now 12 and 3 on the season. In Mid-Wach A action Leominster wiped out Milford 62-46, The Hawks fall to 5 and 7 on the season.
In Tri Valley League Girls Basketball Ashland took care of Westwood 54-31, Millis over Norton 39-35, Medway over Dover-Sherborn 66-32, The Mustangs are 9 and 6 and 1 win away from a ticket to the post season. Hopkinton Lady Hillers took care of the Blackhawks of Bellingham 63-33, The Lady Hillers are 8 and 5 on the season. Medfield over Holliston 54-32.
Great High School Hockey action today at 1:50PM as Northbridge takes on Milford and at 6:30pm Bellingham meets up with Holliston and at 7:20pm Hopkinton takes on Dover-Sherborn. 
Speaking of Great Hockey Action Today at 1:00PM The Pittsburgh Penguins take on the Boston Bruins, The Bruins are currently tied with the Philadelphia Flyers for 2nd place in the Eastern Conference with 66 points.

On WMRC (1490 am, Milford) Last Night The Celtics fell to 5 and 9 on the Season losing to the Phoenix Suns 79-71, Ray Allen had 14 points but Marcin Gorat dropped 24 for the Suns to improve Phoenix to 6 and 9 on the season. 
The Boston Bruins take on the 1st place New York Rangers this Saturday at 1pm, If the Bruins win they will be 1st place in the Eastern Conference. 
WMRC’s Friday night High School basketball game, came out of the Milford future League, the hockomock. Franklin defeated Mansfield 54-49, Mansfield took a 1 point lead in the 4th quarter, but Sam Bohmiller lit up the score board dropping 11 points in the 4th quarter, 18 during the game in the Franklin victory to improve the Panthers to 7 and 3 on the season, Mansfield drops to 6 and 4. In other action Wachusett gave Milford their 2nd straight loss as they defeat the Scarlet Hawks 64-50. Milford now 8 and 3 on the season.
Nipmuc defeated Hopedale in overtime and handed the Blue Raiders their 2nd straight loss, final score was 48-42. Hopedale drops to 7 and 5, while Nipmuc improves to 5 and 6. 
Holliston defeated Ashton in a tri-valley thriller 62-61, Millis took down Bellingham 55-37, Blackstone-Milleville wins 2nd straight taking down Douglas 59-55.
And in other Mid-Wach A Action Friday night Algonquin buried Shrewsbury 51-39.

Boys Ice Hockey: The Hockomock Champs Franklin Panthers bury Foxboro 12-0. 
This Sunday a couple big NFL games to determine who will play in the Super Bowl on February 5th. The New York Football Giants take on the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship at 6:30pm and the New England Patriots welcome the Baltimore Ravens to Gillette at 3pm in the AFC Championship. Brandon Spikes expected to play for the Patriots as well as most others on the injury report.

High School Fall Season Awards!

It has been an amazing high school 2011 fall sports season in Massachusetts. Some of the biggest honors this year go out to the The Georgetown Girls soccer team who through 3 playoff games did not allow a goal responded to St. Mary's goal with 5 unanswered scores to capture the division 3 north girls title. 
The Hopedale Blue Raiders girls soccer team earned there first state to the division 3 state final since 2005 after a 2-0 victory over undefeated Lenox, but Dover-Sherborn walked away with the division 3 state championship after routing Hopedale 2-1 on Friday November 18th 2011. 
On Saturday November 19th 2011, Auburn took down Canton 1-0 to clinch the DIvision 2 Girls Soccer Title, The Rockets finished the season undefeated. The title was the first state title for the Auburn Girls. 
on Friday November 18th The Ludlow Boys Soccer team clinched the division 1 state championship taking down Masconomet with a score of 2-1, and Sutton took down Georgetown 3-1 to clinch the Division 3 state title.
Also on Friday November 18th The Peabody girls soccer team took down East Longmeadow 1-0 Friday November 18th to win the division 1 girls state title.
The Groton-Dunstable boys soccer squad took down Concord-Carlisle 2-0 to capture the division 2 state title on Saturday November 19th. 
Girls Volleyball rapped up on Saturday November 19th 2011 Barnstable took down Central Catholic for the Division 1 title, The Marlborough Panthers took down Melrose for the division 2 title and Frontier took down case for the Division 3 state title in girls volleyball. 
Honorable Mentions go out to Andrea O' Brien of the Peabody girls soccer team as she closed out her season with 34 goals making her the highest scorer in Massachusetts for the 2011 season.
Masconomet J.R. Charlie May won his first individual division 2 state title in high school golf this sports season.
The Hudson Hawks won the Mid-wachusett B Golf Championship.
Randolph goaltender Emily Wilson had 10 straight shout outs as goalie to help the Randolph Field hockey team to their first state tournament. Oh and even more impressive Goalkeeper Emily Wilson was a backup goalie who filled in for starter Olivia Biles.
A big congrats this year to Everett Graduate Matt Costello won were one of the winners for the 2011 National Football Foundation High School-Scholar athlete awards.
The Auburn High School Foootball team won a 41 game winning streak into this season before losing to Shepard Hill Regional High School on Friday October 7th, but one of the biggest winning streaks ever in Massachusetts High School history by Auburn High School with 41 straight wins. 
Quarter Back Jonathan Dibiaso of Everett High School broke the all time state passing record in his highschool career after throwing six touchdown passes against Medford on Friday October 28th. Dibiaso after that game had 85 straight touchdown passes breaking Tom Colombo's state record for the most touchdown passes in a high school career. 
The Hopedale Boys Cross Country team won the Dual Valley Conference championship meet at Nipmuc as Matt Doran, Paul Maurais and Chris Kivor finished 3rd, 4th and 5th.

High School Sports Playoffs: Fall Season

Some High School Notes: 17 Teams punched tickets to this years playoffs in high school football this past weekend: Chelmsford, Lynn English, Duxbury, Wakefield, Walpole, Pembroke, Newburyport, Hamilton-Wenham, Bishop Feehan, Cardinal Spellman, Shawsheen, Mashpee, Cathedral, Chelsee, Nantucket, Bourne and Latin Academy.
In Field Hockey Andover reached the division 1 state championship for the second year in a row, they defeated Duxbury Tuesday Night and will take on Longmeadow at Worcester State Saturday at Noon after Longmeadow took down Algonquin with an overtime goal by Catherine Ryan in the Lancers 1-0 victory over the tomahawks.
In division 2 field hockey action the Watertown Red Raiders extended there winning streak to 68 games, dating back to 2008 as they knocked Canton out of the playoffs 3-2, Watertown will play Oakmont for the state championship Saturday at Worcester State.
In Girls Volleyball Central Catholic knocked out the Red Hot Lincoln Sudbury and advances to the finals against the winner of Brookline and Barnstable.
The Georgetown boys soccer team took down Lynnfield 2-0, to capture the division 3 North Sectional Final.

Hopedale did something no one has been able to do and that is defeating Division 3 West champion Lenox, Hopedale won the game 2-0 and its earned its first trip to the division 3 state final since 2005. Jessica Messier and Lauren Kapatoes had goals for the Hopedale Blue Raiders who take down previously unbeaten Lenox to move on the Division 3 State finals, Congratulations to the Hopedale Lady Blue Raiders.
Who will Hopdale meet in the Division 3 state finals you may ask, that would be the Dover Sherborn Raiders as Victoria Ortega had a goal to push the Raiders pass Georgetown tuesday in the semifinals. In took 2 overtimes but Dover Sherborn got it done as Victoria Ortega scored the only goal of the game as the Raiders of Dover-Sherborn advance to the state championship for division 3 to take on Hopedale, time, date and site to be determined.
Newburyport is the Division 1 East girls soccer champs after defeating stoneham 1-0 in a overtime shootout. Newburyport last captured state titles in 2007 and 2008 Betsy Albiani forced sudden death knocking in the 4th goal of the shootout for stoneham, Amy Sullivan would cap it off for newburyport knocking a goal into the bottom right corner of the net to clinch the state title for Newburyport.
In Division 1 North girls soccer, Peabody took down Concord-Carlisle, Concord-Carlisle's Andrea O' Brien closes out her season as eastern massachusetts highest scorer.
In an Eastern Massachusetts track meet Kevin Thomas and Joel Hubbard of Marshfield dominated, finishing well ahead of the other 229 runners.
In Boys Cross Country, Brookline, Lincoln-Sudbury, Oliver Ames, Pembroke and newburyport all winners this past tuesday november 15th.
Fun fact of the day the longest winning streak in High School Football in the Country is Chandler High School in Hamilton, Arizona with 52 wins in a row, longest High School football winning streak in Massachusetts is Mt. Greylock Regional out of Duxbury, Massachusetts with 23 wins in a row.

On Wednesday the Marlboro Panthers girls volleyball team improved to 13 and 0 knocking off the Milford Scarlet Hawks in a 3-0 sweep. Marlboro has only lost one set all year!
Panthers Coach Pete Lepore said to the Milford Daily News after the game "I was talking to a (former player) after the game who was on the 2003, 2004 state championship team, and she said as long as you get the serves in there, your kids block just as good our team. That was kind of the strategy, get it in and let the defense do its work."
- The Hudson Hawks Golf Team are the Champions of the Mid-Wachusett B League as they won on Wednesday 3 points ahead of runner-up Quabbin.
In Other Golf Action Hopedale swept the DVC Meet and Medfield swept the Tri-Meet and the Franklin Squad buried visiting Stoughton 144-175.
