Results From High School Playoff Basketball Last Night
Boys:
Millis eliminates Community Academy of Science and Health 67-46. Millis advances to Play at Holbrook Wednesday in South Division 4 bracket.
Fitchburg eliminates Tantasqua with a 75-64 victory and advances to play at Holy Name Thursday in Central Division 1 bracket.
Also in Central Division 1 Bracket Marlboro takes down North Middlesex 57-56 in overtime. Marlboro advances to play St. Peter Marian on Thursday at Assumption College.
In Central Division 3 Bracket Southbridge takes down West Boylston 55-54 and Southbridge advances to play at Worcester Tech.
In Boys Central Division 2 bracket 7 games Monday Night Nipmuc defeated Uxbridge 68-60 in over time. Nipmuc advances to play Lunenburg on Thursday, Lunenburg took down Narragansett 68-47.
10 Seed St. Bernards upset 7 seed Bartlett 84-75 and advances to play 15 seed Gardner who upset 2 seed Northbridge 61-52, 12 seed Grafton upset 5 seed Clinton 47-46 and Grafton will play 4 seed Groton-Dunstable who defeated 13 Seed Hudson 64-53, 9 Seed Oxford upset 8 Seed Auburn in Overtime 52-52 and Oxford advances to play 1 seed Quabbin on Thursday. 7 Games in Central Division 2 Boys 5 upsets.
GIRLS
In Girls south division 1, it will be Taunton @ Franklin Tomorrow Night as on Monday Taunton 17 seed upset Weymouth 60-56. On the other side of south division 1 bracket 15 seed West Roxbury gets shut down by 18 seed Whitman-Hanson 51-29 and 14 Seed Dartmourth takes down Plymouth South 49-37.
Tomorrow night we have Girls South Division 2 action as Walpole takes on Hopkinton Girls on WMRC, last night in South Division 2 18 Seed Hingham took down 15 seed Sandwich 69-56 and 17 seed Sharon took out 16 seed Silverlake 50-28.
Girls Central Division 3 action 16 seed Southbridge took down 17 seed Whitinsville Christian 58-51.
Tonight on wmrc first class radio and streaming online at wmrc daily news.com its girls basketball central division 1 action as 10 and 10 9 seeded Tantasqua are at 10 and 10 8 seed Milford. The winner of tonights game will be at 1 seeded Holy Name Friday Night at 7pm. The Lady Hawks are riding a 2 game winning streak, taking down Algonquin and St. Peter Marian in back to back games to clinch a playoff spot. High School Fall Season Awards!

It has been an amazing high school 2011 fall sports season in Massachusetts. Some of the biggest honors this year go out to the The Georgetown Girls soccer team who through 3 playoff games did not allow a goal responded to St. Mary's goal with 5 unanswered scores to capture the division 3 north girls title. 
The Hopedale Blue Raiders girls soccer team earned there first state to the division 3 state final since 2005 after a 2-0 victory over undefeated Lenox, but Dover-Sherborn walked away with the division 3 state championship after routing Hopedale 2-1 on Friday November 18th 2011. 
On Saturday November 19th 2011, Auburn took down Canton 1-0 to clinch the DIvision 2 Girls Soccer Title, The Rockets finished the season undefeated. The title was the first state title for the Auburn Girls. 
on Friday November 18th The Ludlow Boys Soccer team clinched the division 1 state championship taking down Masconomet with a score of 2-1, and Sutton took down Georgetown 3-1 to clinch the Division 3 state title.
Also on Friday November 18th The Peabody girls soccer team took down East Longmeadow 1-0 Friday November 18th to win the division 1 girls state title.
The Groton-Dunstable boys soccer squad took down Concord-Carlisle 2-0 to capture the division 2 state title on Saturday November 19th. 
Girls Volleyball rapped up on Saturday November 19th 2011 Barnstable took down Central Catholic for the Division 1 title, The Marlborough Panthers took down Melrose for the division 2 title and Frontier took down case for the Division 3 state title in girls volleyball. 
Honorable Mentions go out to Andrea O' Brien of the Peabody girls soccer team as she closed out her season with 34 goals making her the highest scorer in Massachusetts for the 2011 season.
Masconomet J.R. Charlie May won his first individual division 2 state title in high school golf this sports season.
The Hudson Hawks won the Mid-wachusett B Golf Championship.
Randolph goaltender Emily Wilson had 10 straight shout outs as goalie to help the Randolph Field hockey team to their first state tournament. Oh and even more impressive Goalkeeper Emily Wilson was a backup goalie who filled in for starter Olivia Biles.
A big congrats this year to Everett Graduate Matt Costello won were one of the winners for the 2011 National Football Foundation High School-Scholar athlete awards.
The Auburn High School Foootball team won a 41 game winning streak into this season before losing to Shepard Hill Regional High School on Friday October 7th, but one of the biggest winning streaks ever in Massachusetts High School history by Auburn High School with 41 straight wins. 
Quarter Back Jonathan Dibiaso of Everett High School broke the all time state passing record in his highschool career after throwing six touchdown passes against Medford on Friday October 28th. Dibiaso after that game had 85 straight touchdown passes breaking Tom Colombo's state record for the most touchdown passes in a high school career. 
The Hopedale Boys Cross Country team won the Dual Valley Conference championship meet at Nipmuc as Matt Doran, Paul Maurais and Chris Kivor finished 3rd, 4th and 5th.

Leominster crushes Marlborough 25-7
Medway destroys Bellingham 40-20
Millis/Hopedale is 9 and 1 after beating Medfield 21-13. Jim Perkins had a pair of rushing touchdowns and a 56 yard touchdown reception was credited to Ian Strom in the 2nd quarter.
Millis/Hopedale has already clinched a playoff spot, they will battle they will battle Mashpee in the first round after Mashpee took down East Bridgewater 16-6 on Friday. 
Jonathan Papelbon has agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia Phillies close to 4 years and 50 million dollars with additional benefits that could take the deal close to $60 Million.

Northeastern Huskies took down Boston University in Overtime 82-74
Harvard over MIT 76-49,
Duke hung on to beat Belmont 77-76
Uconn over Columbia 70-57
In the first ever Carrier classic North Carolina took down Michigan State 67-55 on the flight deck of the USS Carl Vinson in Coronado, California, which was site of the burial of Osama Bin Laden's burial after he was killed by navy seals.
The New England Patriots take on the New York Jets in the Meadowlands this sunday at 8pm on Sunday Night Football
Sports Headlines 10/23/2011

We are at the middle of the High School Football season and Friday’s TVL Game of the week on WMRC featured the Hopkinton Hillers and the Holliston Panthers. Hopkinton played without there starting Quarterback Mike Decina. Holliston came out on top in this game as they shutout Hopkinton 20-0. Dan Barone had 3 touchdown runs for the Panthers. Holliston is now tied on top in league play with Westwood, as the Panthers are 2-0 in the league, 5-1 overall. 
Westwood bested Medway last night 7-0 to improve too 6-1 and 2-0 in league play. Bo Berluti caught a 10 yard touchdown pass from Alex Berluti. 
Millis-Hopedale remains undefeated as they took down Dover-Sherborn in Tri-valley small play. Final score of that game was 28-0. Jim Perkins had 3 touchdown runs for Millis-Hopedale. 
In Midwatch Play Shrewsbury over Wachusett 36-29, North Middlesex lost to Hudson 34-19, Marlborough defeated Algonquin 35-14 and Westborough got crushed by Nashoba 57-13. 
Tonight the Milford Scarlet Hawks battle the Fitchburg Red Raiders. Milford and Fitchburg are both 3-3 in the season and undefeated in league play. The winner of Fitchburg and Milford will be in first place in Mid-Wach A. Game can be heared tonight on WMRC with coverage starting at 5:45pm, beginning of the game will be available online only until B.C. Football ends, then the game can be found on 1490am.
Talking about B.C. Football, the Boston College Eagles play at 3:00pm today as they take on Virgina Tech who is ranked 12th in the country. B.C. is having a rough season as they are 1-5 and 0-3 in ACC play, Virgina Tech is 6-1 on the season and 2-1 in ACC Play. Coverage starts on WMRC at approximately 2:45 today. 
Theo Epstein has officially resigned from the Red Sox and is set to become the new President of the Chicago Cubs, press conference is expected to be held Tuesday, Ben Cherrington will take over as Red Sox G.M. 
Game 3 of the World Series is tonight as the Cardinals head to Texas, series is tied 1-1. Kyle Lohse takes the Hill against the Rangers Matt Harrison. 
The 3-4 Boston Bruins take on the San Jose Sharks tonight at the Garden game time is 7:00pm. 
Earlier this week the Lions and Eagles agreed on a trade that would send RB Ronnie Brown to the Lions and RB Jerome Harrison to the Eagles, but the trade was nullified as it was discovered during a physical that Jerome Harrison had a brain tumor. Jerome Harrison since had surgery and is expected to have had the Brain Tumor removed. 
Patriots have a bye week this week but some games going on is the Chargers @ the Jets – 1:00pm start, Tim Tebow gets the start for the Broncos as they take on the Dolphins at 1:00 and Carson Palmer and the Raiders welcome the Chiefs at 4:00. Sunday Night game is the Peyton Manningless Colts at the Saints and on Monday the Ravens battle Jacksonville.

On Wednesday the Marlboro Panthers girls volleyball team improved to 13 and 0 knocking off the Milford Scarlet Hawks in a 3-0 sweep. Marlboro has only lost one set all year!
Panthers Coach Pete Lepore said to the Milford Daily News after the game "I was talking to a (former player) after the game who was on the 2003, 2004 state championship team, and she said as long as you get the serves in there, your kids block just as good our team. That was kind of the strategy, get it in and let the defense do its work."
- The Hudson Hawks Golf Team are the Champions of the Mid-Wachusett B League as they won on Wednesday 3 points ahead of runner-up Quabbin.
In Other Golf Action Hopedale swept the DVC Meet and Medfield swept the Tri-Meet and the Franklin Squad buried visiting Stoughton 144-175.
