In The Division 2 South First Round of the Post Season Dedham took down Holliston 2-1.

In Division 3 girls Central Play Blackstone Valley Tech took down Hopedale 6-2 and Uxbridge pounded Monty Tech 16-0.

Local Softball action today at 3pm Wachusett is at Milford in the Division 1 Central Quarterfinals.

Boys Tennis Division 1 Central action Tantasqua took down Milford 3-2, In Division 2 boys South Scituate took down Holliston 5-0 and Whitinsville Christian shut out Hopedale 5-0.

Girls Tennis Central first round action Milford shut out Tantasqua 5-0.

In The Boys Volleyball Central Semifinal Milford shut out Xaverian winning all 3 matches.

Local Lacrosse action today as in Boys action Medfield takes on Franklin at 2pm, BVT takes on Tyngsboro at 3pm, In Girls Lacrosse Franklin battles Natick at 4pm and Ashland takes on Hopkinton at 4pm as the Spring season post season continues.

The Red Sox rolling on a 4 game winning streak heading into last night send Daniel Bard to the Hill to face John Danks. Well the result was just super for the Sox as they get the 10-3 victory, their 5th win in a row. Daniel Bard went 7 innings pitched, gave up 2 earned runs. Ortiz belted his 4th homer of the year and Darnell Mcdonald had 4 RBI's. The Sox scored 6 runs on the top of the 6th last night.

Thursday Night Milford High Baseball Branched out as J.J. Branch took the mound and took down Algonquin 10-6. 4 of the runs were earned. Jarrod and Chriss Casey as well as Matt Ferelli all contributed hits in the Milford victory. The Scarlet Hawks after Thursday are 6 and 1 on the season.

On Friday a different story Milford Gets shut out against Shrewsbury 3-0 but the Milford Softball team shut out Shrewsbury 8-0, Caroline Fairbanks ripped a 3 run homer in the Milford victory.

Central Games have been Postponed due to weather

WMRC's game last night was the Girls of Hopkinton taking down Walpole 46-30, It was a defensive game up until the 4th quarter in which Lindsey Doucette went off dropping 12 4th quarter points, 17 throughout the game in The Hopkinton Girls South Division 2 victory. Hopkinton advances to play the winner of tonights Medfield-Hingham game.

Another local south division 2 girls game last night the Holliston Girls were eliminated by Notre Dame losing 54-43.
Auburn
Today in Girls South Division 3 Coyle & Cassidy are hosting Medway in Girls South Division 3 tournament play. Tomorrow at 7pm in Girls South Division 1 play 14 and 6 Newton North is at 18 and 2 Franklin. In Girls Central Division 1 Play Holy Name hosts Milford Saturday at 6pm after Milford defeated Tantasqua on Tuesday to advance 55-48. In Girls Central Division 2 play, Auburn took out Nipmuc earlier this week with a 62-50 victory, Auburn advances to play St. Bernards. In Central Division 3 girls tournament play Hopedale will play Parker Charter on Saturday at 7pm, winner advaces to the semi finals at Clark University and right above Hopedale in the Bracket is Blackstone Valley Tech who advanced awaits the winner of Bromfield and Nashoba tech who play Friday after yesterdays and todays central play delays due to snow.

In Central Division 1 Boys action Milford @ St. Johns moved to 7pm tomorrow, Friday due to snow and also tomorrow in Central Division 1 Marlboro takes on St. Peter Marian at Assumption College. The winners of both those games head to WPI. Nipmuc takes on Lunenburg in Lunenburg Saturday at 7pm in boys central division 2 play, after on Tuesday 14 seeded Nipmuc upset 3 seeded uxbridge in overtime 68-60. In Boys Central Division 3 Central play South Lancaster is at Hopedale, game is expected to be played although all other Central games scheduled for today have been postponed. Blackstone Valley Tech hosts North Brookfield Friday 7pm.

Millis eliminates Community Academy of Science and Health 67-46. Millis advances to Play at Holbrook Wednesday in South Division 4 bracket.

Fitchburg eliminates Tantasqua with a 75-64 victory and advances to play at Holy Name Thursday in Central Division 1 bracket.

Also in Central Division 1 Bracket Marlboro takes down North Middlesex 57-56 in overtime. Marlboro advances to play St. Peter Marian on Thursday at Assumption College.

In Central Division 3 Bracket Southbridge takes down West Boylston 55-54 and Southbridge advances to play at Worcester Tech.

Rob Gronkowski is listed as questionable for the Super Bowl but count on Gronk playing in the game of the year. Bill Belichick said there is no setbacks for the return of Gronkowski.

Peyton Manning was cleared by doctors to return to NFL action but there is no time table for his return.

The Boston Celtics beat the New York Knicks 91-89 at the Garden with a last minute 3 pointer from Paul Pierce, The Celtics are now 12 and 10 on the season. In WMRC’s first class radio’s Friday Night High School Basketball game of the Week the Milford Scarlet Hawks took down the Leominster Blue Devils at home 54-36. Defense dominated up until the 4th quarter as it was 28-21 heading into the 4th quarter, but the Hawks would outscore the Blue Devils in the 4th Quarter 26-15, to get their 11th win of the year. Jan Fuentes was the player of the game dropping 14 points, 10 of which came into the 2nd half. Milford next plays against Worcester North this Sunday at 1pm, game will not be on WMRC due to Celtics basketball, but head down to Milford High School to get ready for Super Bowl by watching some great High School Basketball action.

Blackstone Valley Tech improved to 8 and 5 as they took down Bay Path in Colonial Athletic League action 65-58.

In other Midwatch A action Algonquin took down Fitchburg 47-44, Tri Valley League Boys Basketball Medfield took down Holliston 57-56, Medway beat Dover-Sherborn 67-62, Norton was all over Millis 64-37 and Hopkinton wiped out Bellingham 61-36. The Hillers are now 5 and 5 on the season.

In Girls action Blackstone Valley Tech wiped out Bay Path 37-14, Hopedale took care of Whitinsville Christian 48-31, The Hopedale lady Blue Raiders are now 12 and 3 on the season. In Mid-Wach A action Leominster wiped out Milford 62-46, The Hawks fall to 5 and 7 on the season.

In Tri Valley League Girls Basketball Ashland took care of Westwood 54-31, Millis over Norton 39-35, Medway over Dover-Sherborn 66-32, The Mustangs are 9 and 6 and 1 win away from a ticket to the post season. WMRC’s Friday night High School basketball game, came out of the Milford future League, the hockomock. Franklin defeated Mansfield 54-49, Mansfield took a 1 point lead in the 4th quarter, but Sam Bohmiller lit up the score board dropping 11 points in the 4th quarter, 18 during the game in the Franklin victory to improve the Panthers to 7 and 3 on the season, Mansfield drops to 6 and 4. In other action Wachusett gave Milford their 2
nd straight loss as they defeat the Scarlet Hawks 64-50. Milford now 8 and 3 on the season.

Nipmuc defeated Hopedale in overtime and handed the Blue Raiders their 2
nd straight loss, final score was 48-42. Hopedale drops to 7 and 5, while Nipmuc improves to 5 and 6.

This Sunday a couple big NFL games to determine who will play in the Super Bowl on February 5th. The New York Football Giants take on the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship at 6:30pm and the New England Patriots welcome the Baltimore Ravens to Gillette at 3pm in the AFC Championship. Brandon Spikes expected to play for the Patriots as well as most others on the injury report.

WMRC’s High School game of the week featured the Mansfield Hornets and the Franklin Panthers. Mansfield shut out Franklin 27-0. Greg Donahue was your player of the game as he rushed for 125 yards and 1 touchdown. Mike Blackman hauled in a 40 yard touchdown pass from George Busharis in the third quarter as the 8-1, 5th ranked team in the state Mansfield Hornets remain on top of the Kelly Rex in the Hockomock. Mansfield is now ranked as the number #4 team in the state.

In other Kelly-Rex action #15 in the state King Phillip took Down Attleboro 41-7.

Wachusett shut out Milford last night 28-0. Milford drops to 3 and 6 in there 5th straight loss and plays St-Johns Shrewsbury on the road next Saturday at 1pm. Wachusett is 4 and 5 on the season.

In other Mid-Wach action Leominster defeated Shrewsbury 27-14, Marlborough shut out Westborough 36-0, Nashoba over Hudson 24-7 and North Middlesex took down Algonquin 33-7.

In Tri-Valley play Millis-Hopedale improved too 8 and 1 as they rolled over Bellingham 48-6, Holliston is on top of the TVL Large as they beat up on Medway 41-12, Hopkinton defeated Medfield 27-7 and Norton defeated Ashland 31-7.
Everett H.S.
Last Week Everett’s Jonathan DiBiaso threw for 6 touchdown passes in a 41-14 victory over Medford to set the state record for touchdown passes. Dibiasso has 90 touchdown passes in his high school career heading into Everett’s week 9 matchup.

--The Milford Youth Cheerleading U15 and U13 teams will compete this month at the regional competition in Worcester.

Milford High School fell to the Fitchburg Red Raiders this past Saturday at Medway High School 29-19.  Milford went into halftime trailing 21-6 but the offense came out firing on all cylinders in the 2nd half as Chris Casey the starting QB scored a touchdown on a 30 yard run in the 3rd Quarter and Tommy Hythault scored a touchdown in the 4th Quarter on a 14 yard run.  Connor Lemieux however would lead the Red Raiders down the field on a key drive in the 4th quarter, which was capped off with a 2 yard touchdown run by Quinton Perkins. Fitchburg Red Raiders put a stop to Chris Casey and the Scarlet Hawks offense on their last drive opportunity to get back in the game and came away with there 4th win of the season. Red Raiders are now 4-3 on the season and (2-0 in Mid-Wach Play), while the Scarlet Hawks fall to 2nd place in Mid-Wach A with a 3-4 record (1-1 in Mid-Wach Play).

We are at the middle of the High School Football season and Friday’s TVL Game of the week on WMRC featured the Hopkinton Hillers and the Holliston Panthers. Hopkinton played without there starting Quarterback Mike Decina. Holliston came out on top in this game as they shutout Hopkinton 20-0. Dan Barone had 3 touchdown runs for the Panthers. Holliston is now tied on top in league play with Westwood, as the Panthers are 2-0 in the league, 5-1 overall.

Westwood bested Medway last night 7-0 to improve too 6-1 and 2-0 in league play. Bo Berluti caught a 10 yard touchdown pass from Alex Berluti.

Millis-Hopedale remains undefeated as they took down Dover-Sherborn in Tri-valley small play. Final score of that game was 28-0. Jim Perkins had 3 touchdown runs for Millis-Hopedale.

In Midwatch Play Shrewsbury over Wachusett 36-29, North Middlesex lost to Hudson 34-19, Marlborough defeated Algonquin 35-14 and Westborough got crushed by Nashoba 57-13.

The winner of Fitchburg and Milford will be in first place in Mid-Wach A. Talking about B.C. Football, the Boston College Eagles play at 3:00pm today as they take on Virgina Tech who is ranked 12
th in the country. B.C. is having a rough season as they are 1-5 and 0-3 in ACC play, Virgina Tech is 6-1 on the season and 2-1 in ACC Play. Coverage starts on WMRC at approximately 2:45 today.

Earlier this week the Lions and Eagles agreed on a trade that would send RB Ronnie Brown to the Lions and RB Jerome Harrison to the Eagles, but the trade was nullified as it was discovered during a physical that Jerome Harrison had a brain tumor. Jerome Harrison since had surgery and is expected to have had the Brain Tumor removed.

Big Time High School Football Realignment News

-The MIAA Football Committee is currently discussing the possibility of having a statewide football tournament. This discussion has put a hold on division realignments for the 2013 season. The Massachusetts State Football Coaches Association has brought up a new proposal. Fitchburg athletic director and Coaches Association Ray Cosenza said the new plan should be an improvement on the old plan. The new plan is expected to preserve leagues and allow additional teams to qualify for the postseason. With this plan High School Football will finish with six true state champions.

On Wednesday the Marlboro Panthers girls volleyball team improved to 13 and 0 knocking off the Milford Scarlet Hawks in a 3-0 sweep. Marlboro has only lost one set all year!

Panthers Coach Pete Lepore said to the Milford Daily News after the game
"I was talking to a (former player) after the game who was on the 2003, 2004 state championship team, and she said as long as you get the serves in there, your kids block just as good our team. That was kind of the strategy, get it in and let the defense do its work."

The Hudson Hawks Golf Team are the Champions of the Mid-Wachusett B League as they won on Wednesday 3 points ahead of runner-up Quabbin.

Drew Ortone caught a 46-yard touchdown pass and returned an interception 75 yards for another score while Connor Kurtz threw two touchdown passes to lead the host Pioneers past the Mountaineers. Kurtz connected with freshman Taquar Stewart for a 29-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to put St. John's up, 21-0. Sammy Rivera scored a 5-yard touchdown for Wachusett.

Jonathan Montero's 33-yard touchdown run broke a scoreless tie in the second quarter, and Christian Rivera's 45-yard interception return extended the lead for the Reggies. Bengals' Jonathan Marrero fired a 51-yard TD strike to Damian Robinson in the fourth quarter. Rivera added a 24-yard touchdown run to seal the victory.

Week 3 H.S. Football Report


Auburn rolled up nearly 500 yards on the ground and dismantled visiting St. Peter-Marian to win its 40th consecutive game. Dan Flink and Bob Sivret each scored twice for the Rockets.

The Milford Scarlet Hawks took down the Leominster Blue Devils for the 1st time since there 2006 Super Bowl season this past Friday. Milford QB Steve Morganelli only went 2 for 6 and threw for 12 yards but the highlights came from Kick Returner Jarrod Casey returning 2 kickoffs for touchdowns. (82 Yards and 75 yard kickoff returns for touchdowns). A touchdown pass from Garrett DelleChiaie to Josh Caouette and a 2 point conversion would give Leominster a late 20-19 lead but a botched snap on a punt from Leominster would allow Milford to score a safety to come out on top and improve to 2-1 (1-0).

----The Milford Scarlet Hawks took down the Medway Mustangs last night to pick up there first win of the season. 28-0 was the final. Steve Morganelli threw for 127 yards and 3 touchdowns. Milford takes on Leominster next Saturday at 6:00pm at there home away from home Medway High School. Coverage starts on WMRC at 5:45. Leominster lost last night to Hudson 42-7.


---Congratulations to Auburn highschool, they picked up there 39th consecutive win against Holliston last night 14-13, Holliston was attempting to win there 10th straight but came up short to the 3rd winningist team in the country Auburn High School. Dan Flink has 2 touchdown runs in Auburns 39th straight victory.


----In other Friday night football action Hopkinton put away Nipmuc 32-6, Millis-Hopedale defeated Carver 27-6. Ashland defeated West Roxbury 21-14.

----In Central Mass action last night Wachusett took down Algonquin 34-6.


----The Sox finally got a win as they attempt to keep the Rays at bay in the Wild Card race, final score last night was 4-3. Josh Beckett got the win, while Jonathan Papelbon picked up his 30th save of the Season. Big Papi drove in Dustin Pedroia in the 3rd to tie things up, Mike Aviles had the go ahead solo home run in the 4th to help the Sox get back 3 games on top of the Rays in the Wild Card Race. The Sox play there 3rd game of the series against the Rays this afternoon at 4:10pm John Lester goes against Jeff Niemann for the Rays, game can be heard right here on WMRC immediately following Boston College Football.

----The Detroit Tigers clinched the American League Central Division last night after they took down the Oakland Athletics 3-1. This was the Tigers first division title since 1987.


----The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim who are 4.5 out of the wildcard race behind the Sox lost to the Baltimore last night 8-3.


----In College Football Last Night Boise State University, the number 4 ranked team in the Country took down Toledo 40-15.


-----The New England Patriots and the San Diego Chargers will battle at Gillette Stadium this Sunday, game time is 4:15 pm. The Patriots took down the Dolphins in week 1 38-24, after Tom Brady threw for 517 yards, including a 99 yard touchdown pass to Wes Welker.
